Mega Mini Month Madness Week 2 :)

This has been such a lovely week :) Busy...but a good busy! The weather was lovely...not too hot...not too cold.....but jussstttt right (just like Papa Bear's porridge!)

I managed to get some bits done.....

The second card of the free kit that came with Issue 149 of WOX

I also finished off this bookmark, which is a free pattern that you can download here
You'll need to register with your email, but that gives you access to all their free downloads :)

I changed the colours for the flower and decided that I didn't want to backstitch it .....overall I'm happy with this and so is little bug :)

The last bit that I finished this week was a bit of a disappointment.I had bought this hardanger kit many years ago when I just started cross stitching - it was part of a lot that I won on ebay. I thought this would be a good opportunity to stitch this ..

The plan was to finish it and instead of stitching it as a napkin holder, to leave it and use it as a bookmark.
Unfortunately this kit could quite possibly be the absolute worse hardanger kit EVER. Instructions are virtually nonexistant - you have a chart, a sheet illustrating common hardanger stitches (many of which are not a part of what is required to complete this kit) and no instruction re: thread cutting or starting .....

Once I completed the outer buttonhole stitch border, I decided that some improvisation may be in order, and added some snowflakes from this bookmark.

The end result was this

I also spent a little bit of time out in the garden this morning!
The kids helped plant out seedlings this morning :)

By the afternoon we were all ready for a nap....

Did you have a good weekend?

Take care

Both bookmarks look great! Sometimes you just have to improvise.

My weekend is just getting started because I work Saturdays. So far it's been nice, I've been getting in some stitching time and then later today my whole family is getting together at the one restaurant my sister and I can eat at.

Congrats on the great finishes Thoeria. Sadly I didn't finish one this week. I love your improvised hardanger piece.

Great stitching. You can never have too many bookmarks. I usually use a slip of paper. I'm so common! ~lol~

Great finishes, well done. Your Hardanger bookmark looks great the way you finished it. Sorry the kit wasn't the best to work with.

You turned that bookmark into something fabulous! Sometimes those kits are really bad hence why I stay clear from them. Love the little card you made too! PS, I found you through Brigitte...she chose us to be a part of the Blog hop :D

Both bookmarks look very special. And you were creative with both of them. Leaving out the backstitching on the first didn't do any harm to the design. And what you were doing with the hardanger piece was absolutely gorgeous. A wonderful idea.
