And Boo......

Aren't they just the most adorable little bundles?

They were rescued when they were 2 weeks old by a lovely lady who syringe/bottle fed them and their other 2 siblings. When I heard from a friend of mine that there were 2 little scraps looking for a could I say no??

While the bugs and I are really happy to have them with us, my old Scruffy has been eyeing them warily

I think it's going to take a bit of time for him to get used to them....

Hope you all have wonderful weekends!

March Smalls SAL

I started this little piece last night, finishing it off a little earlier this evening :)

I can't quite remember where I found the chart I used as a guide , but didn't quite place the flowers where indicated, and added a little border to it. I'll keep checking she did have some other lovely smalls on her blog.

Hope you're all having lovely weeks!

IHSW ....I need another!

Why is it that weekends always seem to fly past quicker than it takes me to get a cup of coffee? :)

I've had a busy busy long weekend!

As I mentioned....there was soccer on Friday. What a blast! I do love watching the boys play even though I get all tense and just want it over and done with in the last 5 minutes of the game! My son has been with his club since he was 5...he'll be 9 this year. He loves playing soccer and the whole cameradie and being part of a team. Great lessons to teach any child I think :)

A rather grey day at the soccer fields

On the stitchy front, I did not get as much completed as I had hoped to. Didn't even touch the Castle! But...I did take out my Spanish Geometrical Sampler and did a bit of work on it. When I last worked on it, I had only completed the band on the left. So a little bit of stitching got me this far

As you can I see I added some of the beads - wanted to get a feel for what it would look like as I am not using any of the called for threads or colours. In fact, as it's been so long since I worked on this piece, when I originally took it out of the WIP Box of Shame, I thought maybe I should consider restarting it in the called for shades. I did this small piece in the recommended shades then decided that I really do prefer my original choice :)

A small piece in the recommended shades
I'm stitching this piece mostly in local silks (Chameleon Threads) and some others that I have in my stash that I think will blend. I have no definite colour choice in mind but am making it up as I go along...if it looks pretty I'll use it :)

I also did a little work on my Rose Mosaic Needle Roll. This was where I had picked it up at

And this was where I had left it off last night...

I'm using the called for silks to get this piece done.

I'm not sure what I'm going to be stitching this week...other than finishing off the small. *That* I know I will be working on. But for the rest of the week? I am enjoying working on these 2 pieces so may continue.

These beauties were in the garden....aren't they pretty?

Notice the clear blue sky? That's generally what winter looks like here. And I took these pics on Saturday....the day after the rather dismal looking soccer tournament. How strange is the weather on your side of the world?

Have a wonderful week all.

An early start!

Where *has* this month gone??? I can't believe that it's almost time to say goodbye to March! That does, however, herald the approach of IHSW - which is .....THIS weekend!!

Well....I'll be kicking off *my* weekend slightly earlier as we have a public holiday tomorrow! I am so looking forward to sitting down and doing some serious stitching on the castle. The past 2 weeks has seen me getting ym Friendly Stitcher's exchange piece finished and off to my partner. I am so tempted to share a pic....but I'll contain myself and wait....
I'm also hoping to get my small done for the Smalls SAL...

Even though tomorrow is a day off work....I'm still going to be rather busy....middle bug has a soccer tournament so we'll be at the soccer fields from about 8am until 2pm.

And now to fess up.....I tried to resist shopping for new charts.....I did.,....but how could I resist these?

I can't wait for these to get here! I'll patiently watching the mail box until then :)

Well I do hope you all have a lovely IHSW and enjoy some lovely stitchy time!

Quick hello and a give-away

Just a quick Weds morning post :)

It's been raining non-stop since the weekend and parts of Johannesburg has been flooded....thankfully nowhere really close to me! It has meant that all sporty activities for the bugs has been no cricket! Which means when I get home in the evening then I'm met with energised and bored bugs!

On the stitchy front, I've been stitching on my exchange piece so no pics of that :(

Some pics of what it looks like here.....

Nancy  is having another giveaway at her blog...isn't she generous! Head on over and have a peak at the charts you can choose from to win in this giveaway!

Have a good week all....stay safe!!

TUSAL woes and stuff......

I missed the deadline ....yes yes....I'm late....but I have a very good reason why that happened (notice that it's a *reason*...not an *excuse* :D )

Not so many orts!

I promise that there *were* more threads...unfortunately my young bugs thought that mummy doesn't use the little bits of went ahead and used it as "hair" in the pic they were busy with.

I got busy.....really really busy this weekend. What could possibly have kept me busy I hear you wonder! Well......this

Some of the stuff from the craft room....
In case you're wondering what all that is, it's a mere fraction of the chaos that I had to delve through this weekend. I decided that enough was enough...and that my messy room (aka craft room) needed sorting....and as the weather had turned wet and was the perfect day to getting busy!
I couldn't subject you all to a pic of what it looked like before I got cleaning, hence the pic of some of the stuff piled high on the diningroom table.

I polished..I swept...I scrubbed....I mopped....I sorted....and in the end.....I had this.....

Neater...but still needing a little work!
By the end of Saturday evening I had a clean room and had managed to sort through all my stash and decide what needed selling and what needed keeping. When I started cross stitching - was it really only 5/6 years ago? - I admit that I went a bit wild with the stash buying. I think I was ebays' most frequent shopper! I should have gotten shares in ebay the way I bought!! And now....years down the line, I not only have well over 70 mags that I will never use....but kits and fabric too. When I started, I only ever stitched on whenever there was a sale and the exchange rate was good.....guess what I bought....along with everything else got it....aida! Now don't get me wrong....I still stitch on's actually quite lovely to go back to it every once in a while....I just didn't realise how *much* of it I had!

Sunday saw me start the great thread sort. A while back I decided to switch storage systems on my DMC threads....from the floss baggies to the bobbins. I just never got around to getting it all on the bobbins. And then there were the purchases of beautiful silks and overdyes that just never got properly stored. I've now managed to divide all the threads into families (all the Weeks Dyes together etc etc etc), and as yet still have a bit to go before the DMCs are all bobbined up.

Knitting supplies also saw me sorting through the number of duplicate needles I had - know that feeling when you're in a wool shop and you see a needle and you think "I'm not sure if I have that one but let me take it because I'm sure I haven't"? Well I had that feeling often......

So there has been no stitching this weekend....just lots of cleaning and sorting. I'll have to leave the rest of the thread sorting for another day though as I need to get my piece for the Stitcher's Exchange, organised by the Friendly Stitcher's Yahoo Group, done and on it's way to my partner!

Hope you all had good weekends!

Take care
