Not quite a hermit......

This past weekend was IHSW...the International Hermit and Stitch Weekend...hosted by Joyce at Random Ramblings. To read more about this, click the hermit crab banner on the right hand side :)

The plan for this weekend had been to try and make some headway with the Ballerina Bunny.

Two weeks ago, when I first showed her, this was how far along I'd been....

I had been working on her during the ensueing two weeks and before the IHSW this was how far along I had come

Alas, the weekend did not see any great progress as we had to have Dad rushed back to hospital with a temp of 40ºC/104ºF. While the temp has come down, he is still in ICU due to the chest drain they had to installed as his left lung was completely fluid filled.

So by the end of the weekend I only managed to get this wee bit done....

Hopefully Dad will be moved out of ICU soon.

Have a lovely week all!

Take care

A very late "Paying it Forward"

A very.... very.....VERY long while ago.....I received the most beuatiful hand-made pieces from the very talented Kim. It was part of a "Paying it Forward"initiative.

I have been remiss in doing this post. I had intended to....but somehow it kept being overlooked and before I knew it so much time had passed that I am most embarrassed!!!

Without any further ado or pomp....

It would be an absolute pleasure to stitch something for you lovely folks. If you'd like to participate, please leave a comment and by July 20th I'll pick 2 names (if there are more than 2 interested folks!) and will contact you get some details of things you like/don't like favourite colours etc :)

The only condition that was originally made is that you be prepared to pay it forward to two other stitchers :) This doesn't have to happen immediately.....as you've seen....it took me forever to get to this point!! And you don't have to complete your gifts within a month of your post or anything like that.

So.....if you're interested in receiving a hand made gift from this crazy wonky gal, then please lemme know :)

Take care

When does it stop?

Seriously! When does it stop being so crazy busy???

Just when I thought that with May being over and done, things would finally settle, the last week and a half has seen me running around like the proverbial headless chicken...

Firstly...my eldest celebrated her 17th birthday on the Winter Solstice. She decided that she wanted to invite a few of her friends for supper.....so it was a busy busy day getting things organised and cooking for the 20 young ladies that would be descending on our home for supper! The evening was a huge success.....none of the guests left with food poisoning or cramps due to my cooking :D
If you ever consider having 20 teenaged girls in your home for any reason.....take note......girls are noisy! Really.....really.....REALLY NOISY!

Unfortunately, the next morning, when my dad went to the clinic for his dialysis, his doctor was not happy with him - he was very very weak. Dad was admitted to hospital and is currently only expected to be discharged sometime during next week. He has contracted a bug in his blood that's caused the weakness and the doctors are not sure where it's coming from. There had been fears that his cancer may be back but the MRI and bone scans haven't revealed anything. He is also under the care of a cardiologist as he has been complaining of chest pains and shortness of breath. I am grateful that the kids are on vacation though so visiting him in hospital two/three times a day hasn't had to be juggled with picking up the kids at school!

Through all of this I have managed to get some stuff done....

After almost a year, I finished my son's blanket :)

I'm really pleased with the edging. I used the Cosy Blanket Edging Tutorial found here at Attic24 . Lucy's tutorials are brilliant and so easy to follow :)

Now that this blanket is done, I have to start one for my youngest. Let me rephrase....I  have already started her blanket.

I'm using this delightful pattern called the Maybelle Flower.

You can find the pattern here.

I'm using wool in my stash to make these flowers which I'll later make into squares using this tutorial. But that's probably only in a few month's time :D I want to get as many flowers as I possibly can done first before starting the squares. At the moment I am able to get about 9 flowers from a 50gram ball of wool using a 3.5mm hook.

I haven't neglected stitching either! A new start to kick start the stitching mojo!

Ballerina Bunny charted by DMC
Stitched on 32ct evenweave with DMC threads

I had totally forgotten that I bought this Somebunny chart many many years ago. It's initially part of a DMC kit and called Ballerina Bunny. The original bunny wears a green tutu, but as my friend's daughter's favourite colour is blue, I'm swopping out the greens for blues :)

And speaking of bunnies....here are my two cable chomping cuties!

Pebbles having some petals for lunch :)

Peanut loves apple!

Have a good week-end all :)

Take care
